My name is Shawn Malone and I'm a recently retired member of the US Navy and a father of 12 year old twins. Grew up in New England splitting time between MA, NH and ME. With luck I'll retire from my newest job in a few years and head back that way.
As far as my training history I did what most of us that grew up in the Arnold era and did some form or another of bodybuilding splits all the way until about 20 years ago when I discovered powerlifting and switched to Westside for five or so years when I found Crossfit and MMA. While Crossfit is far from perfect, it did get me in much better shape however it lead to a few injuries that led to arthritis in my knees and elbows. Since the arthritis crept in I have gotten out of what I consider to be good shape and gained 20 pounds, up to 248 as of this morning at a height of six feet.
I discovered Strong First in 2016 and for the most part of followed S&S, PTTP with a few cycles of Vodka and Pickles, I really enjoyed that program. My short term goals are to drop 15-25 pounds in a good, healthy way to not just look better but to feel better and live a better life. I'm looking to get back to powerlifting in deadlift only meets as I really can't back squat or bench well anymore.
